When registering for an account, if you haven't already, there are few quirks of registration script to keep in mind.
Email with your password should arrive in a matter of minutes. Check your Junk folder and such if you don't see it. Disable filters (make sure you don't have ISP side ones too) and try the Lookup Lost Password link a couple times. You might need to wait for up to an hour for it to work, as account changes are made during worldsaves which are once every hour. If your email still doesn't arrive or pass lookup link says your account doesn't exist (or you simply made a typo in email address) after an hour you'll have to either create a new one yourself or contact staff and ask them to retrieve your password manually or create a new account for you. If you have a dynamic IP or can easily access some diferent computer at friend's, in library or internet caffee just go ahead and do it to save time. Make sure you're using "correct" email address this time. If you happen to need to contact staff about your account the way to do it these days is registering on Obsidian Forums and sending a PM to hydro. Explain your problem and include your account name (or desired one), email address and maybe desired password (if that works). Give it a day or two for response though, as other people's real life doesn't tend to care about you. Getting on Obsidian IRC might help too. Should find someone willing to help there most of the time. Once your account is sorted you can use Account Center to change your email/pass if a need arises. As mentioned, changes will take place during worldsaves. And just in case you make a typo changing details do email or pass change one at a time so you'd still have means to retrieve pass or change email. Otherwise you'd need to contact staff again. Keep your account details private at all times. Not only cause it's the rules, but for your own security more than anything. If you need to go on vacation for an extended period of time, better leave refreshing chores for a family member. Unless you have friends in game that you can really trust. If there's no other way staff could have ways of helping you out for long absence periods, just ask around if such need arises. You should be fine downloading Obsidian Installer from the website through the mirror system. If for some reason you need a direct link to it there are few available: one two three four. It might happen that you'll get a corrupt file error when trying to install Obsidian. The source files fine, it just seems to get corrupted while downloading for few people. Try to get the installer again, possibly changing the link and/or download means (different browser or download manager). It'll go through eventually. Obsidian Patcher that's needed to start the game requires .NET Framework to run. There's a good chance it's not updated on your PC if you get critical errors when starting Obsidian. Download and install MS .NET Framework 1.1 or 2.0 to see if it helps (version 1.1 should be enough). Restart PC and reinstall Obsidian after .NET installation too. If it doesn't help check out Troubleshooting Guide, Help Forums, IRC. |
